Former Law Enforcement Chiefs Andrea Johnson and Feroz Khan Arrested
The pair were granted R10,000 bail each after prosecutors alleged Johnson shared a confidential assault docket with Khan to hinder his prosecution.
On Friday, October 30, 2026, former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption head Andrea Johnson and former Crime Intelligence deputy Feroz Khan appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates Court facing charges of defeating the ends of justice and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The charges stem from a 2018 assault complaint involving Khan and Brigadier Leonora Phetlhe, which authorities allege Johnson compromised by improperly sharing confidential police information to help Khan prepare his defense.
Testimony before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry revealed Johnson allegedly sent Khan sensitive case materials, while WhatsApp messages presented to the commission suggested a close personal relationship between the two former officials.
The Pretoria Magistrates Court granted bail of R10,000 each on Friday, with prosecutors not opposing their release; the matter was postponed to February 2, 2027, for further investigation.
Khan faces separate criminal charges involving illegal precious metals, while the Madlanga Commission continues investigating allegations of widespread corruption and interference within South Africa's criminal justice system.
