FedEx Confirms Hundreds of Memphis Layoffs
FedEx Supply Chain will lay off 611 workers as Cummins moves parts distribution to Indianapolis, with layoffs scheduled to complete by Oct. 11, the Tennessee Department of Labor reported.
- FedEx Supply Chain will permanently lay off more than 600 workers in Shelby County, Tennessee, as part of a business transition, the company reported.
- The move to a new logistics partner involves FedEx Supply Chain customer shifting part of its Memphis, Tennessee operations to improve efficiency and better support customers.
- FedEx said many affected employees at 4155 Quest Way and 5800 Challenge Drive, Memphis, will be eligible for other roles and offered job placement assistance, relocation aid or severance.
- This is FedEx Supply Chain's second reported layoff this year, and the WARN notice says the Greater Memphis Workforce Development Board will coordinate services with FedEx and affected employees.
- FedEx plans to retain a portion of the business at the Memphis location, expecting the transition to conclude in October 2025 and confirming layoffs are unrelated to Network 2.0.
