In the ZDF summer interview, Federal President Steinmeier sees his position in the face of "anti-democracy forces" facing new challenges. "He also said that an eclectic part against the system chooses democracy," says world chief reporter Anna Schneider.
"Unbiasedness is no longer enough, we must take a stand," the German president said, stressing that "a significant part" of voters across the Rhine "does not vote for good or evil, neither for the left nor for the right, but against the democratic system".
In the ZDF, the Federal President warned against starting an AfD victory already. He also defended the renovation costs for Bellevue.
Frank-Walter Steinmeier believes that the German government "has come into play." He sees: "Something has finally happened." And the AfD? The head of state sees himself as "reinsurance of democracy." Really?
