Three Men Tied to Tren De Aragua Sentenced for Kidnapping, Torturing of Man in Denver
Federal prosecutors said the men filmed the abuse and demanded $30,000 in ransom before one victim’s pinky was cut off with pliers.
On Monday, a federal judge sentenced three Venezuelan nationals linked to TdA to 20 years in prison for kidnapping and torturing a roommate in Denver in 2024, prosecutors said.
The four defendants kidnapped the victim after discovering he and his father were police officers in Venezuela, later consulting with international TdA leadership during the attack.
Authorities said the group filmed themselves strangling the victim, holding his head in water, and severing his finger with pliers, demanding a $30,000 ransom from his wife in Venezuela.
Judge John Kane sentenced the three men in separate hearings in late September and early October, while a fourth defendant, Jose Daniel Pineda-Moreno, pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping and awaits December sentencing.
United States Attorney Colorado Peter McNeilly announced a federal grand jury indicted TdA leader Brawins Dominique Suarez Villegas, also known as "Chino San Vicente," for his role in the October 2024 crimes.
