BOGOTÁ (AP) — A Colombian judge on Monday decided to convict the father of the indigenous children who survived 40 days in the Colombian jungle after a plane crash in 2023 of sexually abusing a family member.
The victim is the oldest of the brothers, Lesly Mucutuy, 13 years old when she was rescued, who took care of the minors Soleiny Mucutuy, 9; Tien Noriel Ronoque Mucutuy, 5, and Cristin Neruman Ranoque, a baby who completed her first year of life in the jungle.
The children survived with a package of cassava flour that was on the plane and wild fruits. After their rescue, they were placed in the custody of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (ICBF).
A Colombian court on Monday found the father of two of the four indigenous children who were lost for 40 days in the Colombian Amazon in 2023 after a plane crash guilty of rape and sexual abuse of a minor.
