Fatal Crash Involving School Bus, Pickup Truck in New Hampshire
A pickup truck driver was killed Friday morning in a head-on collision with a school bus carrying 13 students on Route 12 near Webb Depot Road in Marlborough, New Hampshire, shortly after 7 a.m. The 74-year-old driver, David Peloski of Swanzey, was found dead at the scene.
The Monadnock Regional School District confirmed the bus carried 13 students from the Regional Middle-High School, identified as the Fitzwilliam bus, operated by 77-year-old James French of Keene driving northbound when struck.
Students were evaluated at the scene and determined safe, then transported to Cheshire Medical Center for assessment and treatment of minor injuries. Firefighters declared a mass casualty incident, deploying ambulances from Walpole, Winchester, Peterborough, Jaffrey and Golden Cross.
Route 12 near Webb Depot Road was closed for several hours as state police investigated. Superintendent Jeremy Rathbun assured families on Facebook that all students are safe and the district would contact parents directly.
State police said the investigation is active and ongoing, with the cause remaining under investigation. Authorities asked anyone who witnessed the crash to contact trooper Eric Torrens as additional details will be released when appropriate.
