Farmer killed in WA bushfire identified as shire deputy president

Mark Mudie, 59, died trying to create a firebreak to protect his 7,000-hectare farm as a bushfire burned over 4,000 hectares near Ravensthorpe, officials said.

Mark Mudie was operating a front-end loader to establish a firebreak in West River when his vehicle was engulfed by flames. WA Police said he died at the scene.
