Fan favourite wins at Wimbledon but now must face Brit
On Saturday, Grigor Dimitrov defeated Matteo Berrettini in a five-set match at Wimbledon, securing his place in the fourth round with a 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3 victory.
Dimitrov's comeback follows a pectoral tear suffered at last year's Wimbledon that forced his retirement against eventual champion Jannik Sinner while leading two sets.
On Thursday, Dimitrov defeated 15th seed Jakub Mensik 7-6 , 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, inducing 10 unforced errors from his opponent in the fourth set to reach the third round.
"I'm so happy to be back," Dimitrov said after the three-hour, 13-minute match, describing himself as "emotional" and "overwhelmed" by the crowd's support at the All England Club.
Dimitrov will next face British wildcard Arthur Fery in the fourth round, who earned his first-ever second week in a slam after defeating Zizou Bergs in a match tiebreak.
