NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT, JUL 29 – State Department of Children and Families is investigating the toddler's death after emergency crews responded within minutes to the YWCA childcare center, officials said.
- On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at YWCA New Britain Childcare Center, Saunti, a 2-year-old boy, reportedly choked and later died after emergency transport to a hospital.
- YWCA New Britain staff reportedly responded immediately and called 911 after Saunti reportedly choked on a piece of food.
- According to Tracey Madden-Hennessey, emergency crews arrived at 11:44 a.m. and transported the child by ambulance, where they later died.
- Confirming an investigation, the Connecticut Department of Children and Families will look into the incident, and YWCA New Britain was expected to remain closed Wednesday, with support resources provided.
