Falcons Bolster Running Back Position by Signing Brian Robinson Jr. and Tyler Goodson
The Falcons signed Brian Robinson Jr. and Tyler Goodson to replace Tyler Allgeier and strengthen running back depth behind All-Pro Bijan Robinson for 2026.
On Thursday, the Atlanta Falcons signed running back Brian Robinson Jr. to a one-year deal and Tyler Goodson, addressing critical depth for the 2026 season.
Atlanta needed depth after losing former backup Tyler Allgeier to Arizona, turning to Robinson, a third-round pick by Washington Commanders who rushed for 400 yards with two touchdowns for San Francisco last season.
Robinson started 37 games in three seasons with Washington, rushing for more than 700 yards each season and recording 73 career receptions for 612 yards; Goodson, a former Hawkeye from Suwanee, Georgia, earned All-Big Ten honors and has accounted for 54 carries for 264 yards and one touchdown in his NFL career.
Behind All-Pro Bijan Robinson, the new signings join Nate Carter and Carlos Washington in competing for roster spots, with Carter having appeared in seven games after winning the third running back job during training camp.
With these signings, the Falcons have secured stable running back depth for 2026, positioning Robinson as the favorite for second-team duties while Goodson brings four seasons of professional experience despite mostly playing on practice squads.
