Fairphone’s Second Fairbuds Are Smaller, Lighter, and Longer-Lasting
The modular earbuds add seven replaceable parts, hybrid active noise cancellation and a $119 U.S. price as Fairphone targets longer product life.
- Fairphone released its second pair of modular wireless earbuds, the Fairbuds 2, earlier this month with seven user-replaceable parts, including batteries in both earbuds and the charging case.
- The company says 49 percent of materials are "fair and recycled," sourced with fair mining credits, while components avoid PFAS, a chemical linked to cancer and weakened immune systems.
- Equipped with 11mm bio-cellulose dynamic drivers for "brighter, crisper treble" and LDAC support, the Fairbuds deliver 40 hours total battery life, dropping to six hours with ANC enabled.
- The Fairbuds 2 are available now in Europe and launch in the US on November 2nd at $119, featuring an IP54 rating and three-year warranty for durability assurance.
- While repairability remains relatively unique today, upcoming European legal changes will soon force other manufacturers to adopt similar designs, positioning Fairphone ahead of competitors like Apple's AirPods.
