Although the effects of air pollution on respiratory diseases are well established, its effects on cardiometabolic health are often overlooked. This population-based European cohort study led by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), a center supported by the "la Caixa" Foundation, suggests that higher exposure to air pollution during childhood at home and at school may increase the risk of metabolic syndrome.
