Expanding Dyslexia Training When Teachers Need It Most
On May 20, 2025, an expanded set of dyslexia-focused courses was introduced on the free Cox Campus platform in Atlanta through a collaboration led by the literacy research team associated with the Rollins Center.
This initiative follows Georgia’s 2019 Senate Bill 48, which requires dyslexia screening and structured literacy training, reflecting urgent national literacy challenges.
The coursework, co-authored by cognitive neuroscientist Dr. Maryanne Wolf and literacy expert Dr. Laura Rhinehart, aims to equip educators with tools for effective dyslexia instruction.
Since its launch in 2014, Cox Campus has engaged a community exceeding 367,000 educators across every U.S. state and more than 130 nations, offering over 1.2 million free courses valued at approximately $180 million to support professional development.
Georgia’s full implementation of dyslexia legislation and free access to approved screeners emphasize commitment to early intervention and improving literacy outcomes nationwide.
