ExfilSquad Hackers Leak Info of over 100,000 UK Police Officers, Staff
ExfilSquad said it stole more than 740,000 records from police and education systems, while officials said the full scope remains under investigation.
- On July 26, 2026, a hacking group known as ExfilSquad posted samples of stolen data from the Police National Legal Database and the Department for Education to a dark web leak site.
- Exposed records included 135,000 files from the PNLD, which provides legal guidance to 43 Home Office police forces, and around 607,000 records from the DfE's Help Desk Self-Service Portal and Turing Scheme Portal.
- While the PNLD assessed immediate risk as low, an unresolved discrepancy remains regarding whether passwords were compromised, citing an unnamed source that contradicts the organization's official position.
- Organizations referred the incidents to the Information Commissioner's Office, while the DfE is working with the National Cyber Security Centre and the National Crime Agency to determine full impact.
- The incident forms part of a wider spree listing 14 alleged victims across five countries, though cybersecurity researchers have not independently verified the group's claims, including one involving Microsoft.
