- On Tuesday, co-founders Anima Anandkumar and Benedikt Jenik unveiled Accelerated Understanding Inc, an AI startup designed to predict physical phenomena rather than process human language.
- The pair previously declined a collaboration with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and entrepreneur Vik Bajaj, who proposed "Project Prometheus" offering over $2 billion in committed capital.
- Their system handles 5 trillion data pieces in a single prompt, some 5 million times larger than competing models. "Putting physics at the center is a nature-centric view," Anandkumar, a Caltech professor, said.
- While Anandkumar and Jenik built independently, Bezos and Bajaj proceeded with Prometheus, raising a $12 billion Series B in June 2026 to automate complex physical systems manufacturing.
- Accelerated Understanding is prioritizing enterprise deals for semiconductor design, robotics, and energy applications, bypassing the Google-invented Transformer architecture that powers ChatGPT.
