The request for investigation to Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was made in 2024 by the Central Court of Criminal Investigation of Lisbon, however the two prosecutors of the Public Prosecutor's Office, who investigated the case and who found no evidence of crime in the performance of the President of the Republic, considered that there was no need for investigation.
The Supreme Court of Justice and the Public Prosecutor's Office refused to investigate Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in the case of Portuguese-Brazilian twins treated at the Hospital of Santa Maria.
