James Dolan Cedes Day-to-Day Running of the NHL's New York Rangers to Son Quentin
Quentin Dolan will oversee day-to-day ownership duties while Chris Drury keeps control of hockey operations and reports to him, MSG Sports said.
On Friday, Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. Executive Chairman and CEO James Dolan announced that his son, Quentin Dolan, has been named President, Chief Operating Officer, and Alternate Governor of the New York Rangers, effective immediately.
James Dolan has managed the Rangers and the New York Knicks for 27 years, but this transition marks the beginning of passing the torch to his children, a long-held goal of the executive.
Previously serving as Senior Vice President of Player Performance and Science, Quentin Dolan will now oversee team direction and the Hartford Wolf Pack, while General Manager Chris Drury continues to lead hockey operations under his new supervisor.
Quentin, 32, aims to secure a Stanley Cup for the franchise, leveraging experience from his significant role in the New York Knicks' recent NBA Championship win to help the struggling Rangers organization.
The Rangers last won a Stanley Cup 32 years ago and missed the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, creating pressure for the new leadership team to energize the franchise and improve performance.
