- During the trial, Dott denied the allegations, stating there was "absolutely no way" he abused the children, though victims testified to multiple separate incidents of abuse that occurred while they were young.
- Judge Lord Harrower told Dott he had "robbed the complainers of a significant part of their childhood," labeling the crimes a "gross violation of trust" before ordering him onto the sex offenders register.
- Following his conviction, the World Snooker Tour Hall removed Dott, who won the World Snooker Championship in 2006, as the court remanded him in custody to begin his seven-year sentence.
