'Euphoria' Actor Set to Box Former Two-Division UFC Champion
Javon Walton steps in on short notice after Nurideen Shabazz withdrew with an injury, and MVP approved the matchup, officials said.
On Sept. 26, retired UFC champion Henry Cejudo will make his professional boxing debut in Miami at Knight Arena against actor and prospect Javon Walton, replacing influencer boxer Nurideen Shabazz in the Misfits Boxing main event.
Shabazz, known as Deen The Great, withdrew after an MRI revealed a shoulder injury that forced him to cancel his ring return just ten days before the scheduled bout.
Walton, 20, is best known for playing Ashtray in the HBO series Euphoria and is a former amateur boxer signed to Most Valuable Promotions, where he has gone 2-0 in recent appearances.
Cejudo expressed little surprise at the withdrawal, stating, "I knew all along that Dean The B---- would back out" in a statement to ESPN, mocking his former opponent.
Asserting "I stay ready for moments like this," Walton remains confident about the short-notice opportunity and vowed to face the winner of the new match-up at year's end.
