At the end of April, a new Landtag will be elected in NRW. The ruling black-green coalition can currently expect a majority. However, the result would be quite different in the most populous federal state if the voters voted on the Bundestag.
For the first time since 2022, the CDU has slipped below 30 percent in NRW – and in Merz's home country, of all countries, only 11 percent are satisfied with it.
AfD in Bundestag elections in NRW with 24 percent ahead of CDU. Wüst's CDU remains the strongest force in the state elections with 29 percent.
Seven months before the state election in North Rhine-Westphalia, new polls cause a stir. While the CDU defends its leading position in the state trend, a Bundestag election is preceded by another party.
If there were a federal election now, the CDU in NRW would be behind the AfD according to a new survey. In a federal election, this would look different. Forsa also leads the difference back to the evaluation of Merz and Wüst.
The AfD is the strongest force in a current survey with 24 percent even in NRW – but only with regard to the Bundestag election. In a state parliament election, Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst could therefore collect and win more votes for the Union.
