The Township of Greater Madawaska in eastern Ontario says people with homes around Centennial Lake have been asked to leave because of a forest fire that started Sunday afternoon.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says the fire in the Centennial Lake area was reported just after 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Some residents of the area west of Ottawa have been asked to evacuate after a forest fire broke out early Sunday afternoon.

Alberta. Nova Scotia. Quebec. Calabogie. Multiple media sources Sunday evening confirmed a forest Fire in The Centennial Lake area, west of Calabogie. The blaze was observed just past 530PM Sunday (June 4th), and at 9PM was termed out of control. Cause of the fire is not yet known. Ontario Provincial Police are quoted as saying an an evacuation warning is being considered.   By Rick Stow
