The prices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport rose by 30.4% in Romania in May 2026 compared to the same period last year, the fourth largest in the European Union, shows the data published by Eurostat. At the same time, Romania was the only Member State in which diesel prices rose from one month to the next, while in the rest of the EU they fell.
In Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Lithuania and Romania, petrol prices rose by more than 30%. Between April and May, diesel prices rose only in Romania.
