Brussels is investigating whether there were irregularities in the use of Community funds for the maintenance of railways in Adamuz, Spain, following the January accident.
The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) in Madrid opened an investigation this Friday for possible fraud in the management of European Union (EU) funds for the maintenance of the high-speed section of Madrid-Seville that passes through the town of Adamuz (Cordoba), where on 18 January there was a railway accident in which 46 people died.
