In the event of a Russian attack, could there be a quick enough reinforcement to the eastern flank? There have been long doubts about this in the EU. Now there is at least a new concept of crisis.
A special emergency procedure should be established to allow military transport to move more easily across national borders within the European Union. This is stated in a European Commission proposal, which VRT NWS has reviewed. Currently, in some cases, it takes up to a month for such a military convoy to be permitted to enter an EU country, but the Commission believes this process should be faster in the future.
If a country is attacked, it would be good to come to its aid within three days, the European Commission is urging.
