ECB opens euro banknote design contest to EU designers
The European Central Bank has launched an EU-wide contest to design the next generation of euro banknotes. The initiative marks a major step in the euro’s visual update, with selected themes reflecting European identity and biodiversity. Designers based in the European Union are invited to apply between 15 July and 18 August 2025. Chosen participants will compete in a second phase, submitting full design proposals for evaluation.
