Churches Consider Stopping Family Migration to Be "Ethical Questionable"

The two Christian churches in Germany opposed the suspension of the family reunification of many migrants planned by the Federal Government before the decisive cabinet meeting.

Tomorrow the Federal Cabinet will decide to stop the family reunification for certain refugees for two years. The churches in Germany are calling for the plan not to be implemented. They consider the project to be "ethically questionable".

One day before the decisive cabinet meeting, the Protestant and Catholic Church opposes the planned suspension of the family reunification of refugees. Instead, they demand generous regulations when migrating from those who only enjoy subsidiary protection.

The protection of families from Syria, Afghanistan or Eritrea is therefore not part of the coalition's programme. It is quite right to deal with not only the protests of human rights organisations, but also of the Christian churches. Their family image is apparently more modern than that of the government - because it excludes no one because of its origin. Unlike the parties with the "C" in the name, with the help of the SPD.
