Hughes threw for 114 yards and a touchdown, and Wyoming snapped an eight-game road losing streak with a 16-13 overtime win.
On Friday, Wyoming quarterback Tyler Hughes led the Cowboys to a 16-13 overtime victory against San Jose State, snapping an eight-game road losing streak after Erik Sandvik kicked the game-winning field goal.
Hughes tied the game 13-all with 6:25 remaining in the fourth quarter, finding tight end Jake Wilson in the end zone on a third-down pass that capped an 18-play, 75-yard drive.
Completing 16-of-24 passes for 114 yards, the Mountain West Conference quarterback added 92 yards rushing, including a key 6-yard scramble that helped set up the game-tying drive in San Jose.
San Jose State quarterback Luke Weaver threw for 251 yards on 26-of-38 passing with one interception, but The Spartans' offense stalled in overtime when his fourth-down pass fell short of his receiver.
Wyoming returns home to host Northern Illinois on Oct. 17, while San Jose State travels to face UTEP on the same date following the road loss.
