Statistician: Almost Every Second Working Woman in Part-Time

More and more employees work part-time - in 2024 it was 29 percent. While almost every second woman worked part-time, this was only true for just about every eighth man.

In Germany, so many people continue to work in paid jobs as never before. In the distribution of part-time jobs, there are still marked differences between men and women.

According to the Federal Statistical Office, almost every second woman is employed in part-time work, with a particularly high part-time rate among working mothers.

In 2024, 29% of employed people in Germany worked part-time. Women were more than four times more likely to work part-time than men: While almost every second woman (49%) worked part-time, this was true for just over one in nine men (12%).
