Emmerdale and Corrie to face ITV schedule shakeup next week - when to watch
ITV is taking the soaps off air for live coverage of England’s Women’s World Cup qualifier, with replacement episode plans still unclear.
On Friday, June 5, ITV will remove Emmerdale and Coronation Street from its schedule to broadcast England's women's World Cup qualifier against Spain on ITV1 during the soaps' usual 8pm to 9pm "power hour" slots.
Schedule disruptions for sports programming have become routine at ITV, with both soaps moved to weekends in March for an England vs Uruguay match and again in April for a previous England vs Spain qualifier.
Both programmes normally air back-to-back weeknights with Emmerdale from 8pm to 8.30pm followed by Coronation Street from 8.30pm to 9pm, though viewers can access episodes via ITVX despite the broadcast change.
ITV has not yet confirmed alternative air times for the displaced episodes, leaving open possibilities of weekend rescheduling or one fewer episode for the week.
Coronation Street viewers have reason to celebrate: actor Jake Parry, who played Simon Barlow in 2003 alongside twin brother Oscar, returns 23 years later as new character Damo, described as a "young man" in soap spoilers.
