Elks clinch home field for CFL West playoffs after 35-27 win over Blue Bombers
Fajardo threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores as Edmonton earned home field for the CFL West final.
On Oct. 16, the Edmonton Elks defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 35-27, officially securing the right to host the CFL West final and their first home playoff game since 2015.
This win completes a three-game season sweep over the Blue Bombers, a feat Edmonton last achieved in 1979.
Edmonton quarterback Cody Fajardo led the rally, running for two touchdowns and passing for two more, while Winnipeg quarterback Zach Collaros completed 28 of 33 passes for 331 yards.
The Blue Bombers failed to secure a playoff spot with this loss, though they remain eligible for a post-season berth if Calgary loses to the Lions.
Edmonton finishes its regular season next week in Saskatchewan against the Roughriders, while Winnipeg travels to B.C. to face the Lions to close out their schedules.
