This week, the country secured what was described as a landmark K125 million concessional loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) Global to expand access to clean drinking water across the country. The agreement was signed by PNG and the EU at the 5th EU-PNG Business Forum in Port Moresby and the financing was announced on Tuesday. We have a population of 10,000 with a teachers college, primary schools and elementary schools and many working class people who go to work in Mt.Hagen city, approximately 13km of travel by bus. We have a few water sources but no water supply in place. We have registered a community Youth development association to promote, improve and draw up a sustainability plan for a long-term water and sanitation for the 10 000 plus community at Kelua 1 and 2 communities around Hagen Rural LLG.
