EDP Renewables North America Unveils 200 MW Solar and 150 MW Energy Storage Addition to Existing 1.1 GW Portfolio in California
- On May 6, 2025, EDP Renewables North America officially opened its 200-megawatt Scarlet II photovoltaic facility in Fresno County, California, which features an integrated battery storage system rated at 150 MW with a 600 MWh capacity.
- Following the 2024 commercial launch of Scarlet I, the project enhanced its collaboration through long-term energy and resource adequacy agreements involving Ava Community Energy and San José Clean Energy.
- Scarlet II will power 68,000 homes annually and generated over 140 construction jobs, contributing millions in local spending and tax revenues benefiting schools, emergency services, and infrastructure.
- The entire 200 MW solar project is secured under a 15-year VPPA, and throughout construction, over 1,700 tons of materials were recycled, demonstrating EDPR NA’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.
- EDPR NA, led by CEO Sandhya Ganapathy, said the addition builds on their record of energy reliability and local community support while expanding their operational footprint beyond 1.1 GW in California.
