EastEnders Star Opens up on 'Natural Decision' to Leave BBC Soap After 13 Years
Bright said her exit was not an overnight choice, and Linda Carter’s final storyline is set to explore a renewed link with Max Branning.
Actress Kellie Bright announced she is leaving the BBC soap EastEnders soon, ending a 13-year run as Linda Carter. She described the departure as a "natural decision" after more than a decade at the Queen Vic.
Bright arrived in Albert Square in 2013 alongside on-screen husband Mick Carter, played by Danny Dyer. Despite Dyer departing three years ago, Bright remained to continue Linda's story before deciding to leave.
Linda is currently navigating a tentative relationship with Max Branning, following the end of his marriage to Cindy Beale. She expressed they share a "real connection" despite their complicated history.
In other casting news, Ash Panesar will return to the BBC soap, now portrayed by actress Sakira Vel. Ash was last seen leaving Walford for a job in Canada three years ago, originally played by Gurlaine Kaur Garcha.
Vel expressed excitement about joining the production, stating she cannot wait for audiences to see her character "dives straight into the Panesar family chaos" upon returning to the Square.
