Early voting starts Thursday across Delaware and Maryland, here's what you need to know
Early voting runs for 10 days in both states, with Maryland offering 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. hours and Delaware using county sites.
On Thursday, October 22, Delaware and Maryland voters began casting ballots in the 2026 gubernatorial general election ahead of the November 3 Election Day.
Maryland provides eight consecutive days of early voting through October 29, while Delaware's 10-day period continues until November 1, with designated voting centers across multiple counties in both states.
Cathleen Hartsky-Carter, community relations officer for the Delaware Department of Elections, noted voters must bring state-issued photo ID to check-in, describing early voting as "more convenient" than Election Day voting.
Voters unable to vote in person may request absentee ballots for November 3, with mail requests due by October 30 and electronic requests by noon on November 2.
On Election Day, November 3, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., requiring voters to cast ballots at their pre-assigned polling locations rather than early voting centers.
