Early voting begins Monday in South Carolina
Daily turnout is being reported as voters choose the governor’s office, a U.S. Senate seat and other statewide races under expanded early voting rules.
Early voting for South Carolina's 2026 midterm elections began on Oct. 19 and runs through Oct. 31, allowing voters to cast ballots at any designated county site without a specific reason.
According to the South Carolina Election Commission, over 280,000 people have voted as of Wednesday, Oct. 21. Charleston and Greenville counties led the state with over 9,000 ballots cast each.
Voters must present a valid photo ID to cast ballots. Early voter Willie Calwile said, "We need to make a change in the state of South Carolina," citing concerns about healthcare and rising costs.
Election Day falls on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and early voting provides a buffer against potential complications. Dr. Amy Sams, executive director of the Pickens County Board of Voter Registration and Elections, said "Election Day is literally the last day to vote."
Charleston community groups and local businesses can now apply to participate in the city's annual holiday parade. Applications are due Nov. 5 at 5 p.m., with the parade scheduled for Dec. 6.
