Eagle Butte man sentenced for threatening federal official - West River Eagle

An Eagle Butte man has been sentenced in federal court following a jury conviction for threatening a federal official. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Joseph Lafferty, 68, was sentenced April 20, 2026, by U.S. District Judge Eric C. Schulte to four years of probation and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
