Seth MacFarlane, Chris Yost to Adapt Popular 'Dungeon Crawler Carl' Series for Television
Chris Yost will write and executive produce, while the series has sold 6 million copies and spawned toys, games and a graphic novel.
- Peacock is officially developing a live-action adaptation of the LitRPG series "Dungeon Crawler Carl," with Seth MacFarlane and Chris Yost set to produce, Variety reported.
- Created by Matt Dinniman, the hit sci-fi series follows a Coast Guard veteran and his talking cat Princess Donut surviving an alien reality show; the books have sold 6 million copies and been translated into 20 languages.
- Yost, known for writing "Thor: Ragnarok," will write the series, while MacFarlane's production company, Fuzzy Door, brings experience from "The Orville" and "American Dad" to the project.
- Dinniman noted the project is close to finalizing contracts, adding that the team will perform CGI testing on Princess Donut to ensure the production does not "look like absolute shit."
- With an eighth book arriving May 12, the franchise expands into physical media with toy lines debuting at San Diego Comic-Con in July and a TTRPG launching April 14.
