Dungeon Crawler Carl: Eric Heisserer Joins Series as Co-Showrunner/EP
The live-action adaptation has sold 14 million copies and adds Oscar-nominated writer Eric Heisserer as co-showrunner.
- Peacock named Arrival writer Eric Heisserer as co-showrunner of the upcoming Dungeon Crawler Carl TV series, where he will lead the live-action adaptation alongside previously announced writer Chris Yost.
- Matt Dinniman's hit LitRPG books have sold more than 14 million copies across all formats, prompting Peacock to greenlight a straight-to-series order in mid-June, with Heisserer's hiring announced just under two months later.
- The series follows Coast Guard veteran Carl navigating a sadistic intergalactic game show after an alien invasion wipes out most of humanity, paired with his ex-girlfriend's award-winning show cat, Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk.
- Seth MacFarlane's Fuzzy Door and Universal Global Television produce the series, with MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Rachel Hargreaves-Heald serving as executive producers; Jeff Hays reprises his audiobook role voicing Princess Donut.
- Heisserer brings Oscar-nominated credentials from Denis Villeneuve's Arrival and recent showrunning experience on Netflix's Shadow and Bone, while Yost boasts extensive Marvel and Star Wars credits including The Mandalorian, as Dinniman's eight-book series has generated more than 140 million listening hours on Audible.
