‘Dune: Part Three’ Tickets Go On Sale For Initial IMAX 70mm Screenings

Warner Bros. says 70mm IMAX screenings at 19 theaters sold out within minutes as fans rushed to secure a collectible filmstrip.

  • On Monday, Warner Bros released tickets for select 70mm IMAX screenings of Dune: Part Three, with some shows selling out within minutes of going live at 9 a.m. PST. Screenings occur during the film's opening weekend, Dec. 17-20, 2026.
  • Director Denis Villeneuve's threequel was filmed with IMAX cameras for the first time in the franchise's history. Warner Bros employed a presales strategy similar to Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, releasing tickets eight months before the Dec. 18 premiere to build anticipation.
  • Nineteen theaters worldwide, including the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis, are participating in this first wave of 70mm screenings. Tickets are currently limited to one 7 p.m. showtime per location during opening weekend.
  • Warner Bros President of Global Distribution Jeff Goldstein stated that the rapid sell-out is "proof that the fans' anticipation to experience Dune: Part Three as it was meant to be on the biggest, boldest screens possible is at a fever pitch."
  • IMAX released these tickets in a move that feels like a "line in the sand" against Avengers: Doomsday, also scheduled for Dec. 18. More tickets for the Legendary-Warner Bros co-production will be released soon.
