Drug dealer jailed for life over arson attack on St Helens home that killed elderly couple
Kevin Weetman received a life sentence with a minimum of 25 years after an arson attack linked to a drug dispute killed two elderly victims in St Helens.
- Kevin Weetman, 34, drug dealer, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 25 years at Liverpool Crown Court today after an arson killed Sheila Jackson, 83, and Eric Greener, 77.
- Over a drugs dispute, the prosecution says Kevin Weetman sought revenge after George Jackson, 48, twice refused to sell drugs and demanded his “dough” to avoid a ‘loss of face’.
- Paul Smith and Lee Owens travelled from Liverpool by motorbike with petrol and set the house alight just after 12.30am on July 15, 2025; police linked them using CCTV and phone records.
- The trial resulted in manslaughter convictions, with Kylie Maynard jailed for 23 years and Lee Owens sentenced to 13 years and six months at Liverpool Crown Court.
- Mr Justice Jay warned Weetman is ‘a man with an entirely warped moral code,’ and Merseyside Police said the attack was calculated while the victims’ family called it ‘unforgivable, unprovoked, premeditated’.
