Drivers remember Kyle Busch before race at late Las Vegas star's hometown track
Drivers and fans will honor Busch with a Lap 8 tribute and a renamed short-track race, while Larson and Hamlin chase the season title.
At Las Vegas Motor Speedway yesterday, drivers and fans honored late native Kyle Busch, a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion who died in May, during the race weekend.
Recognizing the track as the Busch brothers' hometown, Denny Hamlin noted that ongoing tributes throughout the year help preserve the memory of the influential driver in the sport.
Fans and drivers will observe a "Moment of Rowdy" on Lap 8, while Brother Kurt Busch will lead the field as the pace car driver for today's race.
Driver Carson Hocevar said the celebration means more in Las Vegas than at other tracks, noting "anybody's home track is going to be their most special place."
NASCAR Cup Series leaders Kyle Larson and Hamlin remain focused on the season championship, with Larson entering as the betting favorite to win Sunday's South Point 400.
