- 14 people were injured in the chain-reaction crash, with 11 transported to Rush Oak Park and Loyola hospitals for treatment; officials reported none of the victims suffered significant injuries.
- As witnesses called 911, a good Samaritan checked on the driver before hearing a gunshot, police spokesperson Dan Yopchick said; authorities closed the intersection for investigation and reopened roads at 2 p.m.
