Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen Preview
Capcom adds a larger frozen region, six skill slots and loot appraisal as the expansion aims to fix base-game complaints, reviewers said.
On Oct 9, 2026, Capcom will release Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, an expansion set in the frozen Norgan region featuring new enemies and a sprawling explorable map.
Capcom developed this expansion to address player feedback from the 2024 base game, aiming to provide the loot-driven exploration loop fans requested from the 2013 Dark Arisen title.
Gameplay improvements include six skill slots, up from four in the base game, while an appraisal system for "spoils" and "relics" returns to unlock powerful gear through exploration.
Quality-of-Life improvements include multiple save slots and the Eternal Ferrystone fast-travel item, with PS5 running at 60fps and Nintendo Switch 2 hovering around 30fps during testing.
Director Kento Kinoshita stated the team designed unpredictable, emergent encounters rather than scripted scenarios, positioning Dark Arisen as a redemption arc for the franchise.
