Ishaq Dar to Visit Kabul to Sign Tri-Nation UAP Rail Feasibility Pact
AFGHANISTAN, JUL 17 – The agreement initiates a joint feasibility study for a $4.8 billion railway to link Uzbekistan with Pakistani seaports via Afghanistan, enhancing regional trade and connectivity, officials said.
- On July 17, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will visit Kabul, signing a framework agreement on the joint feasibility study for the UAP Railway Project, ATTRIBUTION: YES- Foreign Office statement.
- Earlier this month, Islamabad and Kabul agreed at the inaugural additional secretary-level mechanism to strengthen cross-border legal movement, underpinning the strategic UAP Railway Project linking Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
- Accompanied by a high-level delegation, Dar witnessed the Framework Agreement signing in Kabul, with Abbasi signing for Pakistan while Afghan and Uzbek foreign ministers signed for their countries.
- `Historic milestone` Dar said on social media, and the high-level delegation underscored Islamabad’s commitment to the UAP Railway Project.
- The Foreign Office says the project will promote stability, growth and development by facilitating trade and transit, according to a Foreign Office press release.
