Layoffs at 3M's Fairmont plant are set to begin Dec. 18, cutting a total of 62 jobs before the new year, the company has announced.

3M's manufacturing plant in Fairmont will close at the end of the year after 80 years in operation, eliminating 62 jobs. The building is up for sale for $5.4 million.

According to the DEED State Rapid Response Team, approximately 62 people will be permanently laid off, starting Dec. 18 and continuing through Dec. 31.
