A Slumping Shohei Ohtani Dropped to Sixth as Dodgers Face Brewers in NLCS Game 3
Dave Roberts will discuss Ohtani’s role after the four-time MVP went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and has not homered since Aug. 18.
- On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers dropped designated hitter Shohei Ohtani to 6th in the batting order for Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, trailing the Milwaukee Brewers 2-0.
- Hampered by lingering right biceps and left knee injuries since June, Ohtani has posted a.150 batting average with zero extra-base hits during the 2026 postseason.
- Dodgers manager Dave Roberts disclosed Ohtani is "not 100%" but framed the move as matchup-driven rather than a loss of confidence in the $700 million MVP.
- Outfielder Kyle Tucker will move to cleanup for Game 3; Roberts stated he held "a conversation" with Ohtani on Tuesday, Oct. 13 to determine what is best for the team.
- History presents steep odds for Los Angeles: teams trailing 2-0 in best-of-seven series have won just 16.8% of the time, requiring the Dodgers to win four of the next five games.
