Abingdon Veteran Celebrates 100th Birthday
HOPE, ONTARIO, CANADA, JUL 14 – Doris Nazer, a World War II veteran, celebrated her 102nd birthday with family and Mayor Victor Smith, crediting hard work and independence for her longevity.
This past week, Doris Nazer celebrated her 102nd birthday at her Hope home, underscoring her status as the town’s oldest resident, 'I'm still here at 102,' Nazer said.
Before this week, Nazer served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War, later moved from Fulham to Ontario and worked until 1984 while caring for her husband.
Amid a smaller gathering than her centennial, Mayor Victor Smith cut the cake, and close friends and family highlighted her independence.
Amid the festivities, Nazer received a card from King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and she is already looking forward to celebrating again next year, reflecting her enduring spirit.
After settling in Hope, Nazer embraced a quiet, fulfilling life and declared 'Just work bloody hard, all year long,' as her mantra.
