Martin Green told the BBC on Wednesday that 'nothing's particularly come over my desk' from Canada but acknowledged 'we are an open place' for new participants outside of Europe.
A new country may be allowed to participate in the world's biggest music competition, and that is Canada.
Eurovision could once again expand its borders outside Europe. Canada has shown interest in joining the festival and the European Broadcasting Union does not close the door to that possibility. Martin Green, the competition’s director, has assured that the country would be welcome if it finally decides to take the step, although for now there is no formal request for participation by CBC/Radio-Canada.
Canada could join Eurovision, if it wished, in an interview with the director of the Martin Greene contest, who said that the country had not yet applied but would be a welcome guest, given that its Prime Minister, Mark Carney, was seeking to "capture Europe".
