Donnie Wahlberg: 'Blue' spinoff still focuses on faith, family, tradition
Boston Blue continues themes of faith, family, and tradition while introducing new characters and setting, with Donnie Wahlberg reprising Danny Reagan in a fresh career chapter.
- Boston Blue debuted Friday on CBS and Paramount+, marking Donnie Wahlberg's return as Detective Danny Reagan.
- Created to extend the Blue Bloods world, the show introduces new characters and allies the Reagans with the Silver family led by District Attorney Mae.
- Sean Reagan appears in the premiere as a rookie Boston cop now played by Mika Amonsen, who is slammed through a glass door and spends most of the hour unconscious in a hospital bed.
- Wahlberg says Danny is a father first and a detective second, worried about Sean Reagan while Erin Reagan, Assistant District Attorney, supports him during the investigation into the fire.
- At a Manhattan screening and panel, Wahlberg discussed the pilot, teasing Danny's brief romance and noting Bridget Moynahan directed an episode and guest-stars on the spinoff.
