Set photos show the unannounced actor filming with Austin Butler and Danny Ramirez as the production expands its star-studded cast.
- Universal Pictures has commenced filming on the crime thriller "Miami Vice '85," starring Michael B. Jordan as Detective Ricardo Tubbs and Austin Butler as Detective James "Sonny" Crockett.
- Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film draws inspiration from the 1984 pilot episode "Brother's Keeper," exploring the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami through a screenplay by Dan Gilroy based on characters created by Anthony Yerkovich.
- The ensemble cast expands with "The White Lotus" star Haley Lu Richardson and "The Holdovers" actor Dominic Sessa joining the leads, alongside Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, John Leguizamo, Danny Ramirez, Walton Goggins, Andrew Schulz, Edi Gathegi, Andre Holland, and Michael Irby.
- Set photos captured Jordan and Butler filming alongside co-star Danny Ramirez at the Preakness Shopping Center in Wayne, New Jersey, where crews transformed storefronts with retro 1980s signage and palm trees.
- "Miami Vice '85" is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 19, 2028, though Universal may showcase early footage to exhibitors at CinemaCon 2027 in Las Vegas ahead of a public teaser trailer.
